The purpose of this study is to bring biblical facts about a controversial topic regarding Condemnation an Everlasting Punishment.  John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. God does not want to condemn anyone and he provided a way to salvation over two thousand years ago, salvation is up to each individual person to believe in the son and to follow him. The following topics are all intertwine and must be discussed in order to provide biblical evidence that Condemnation is Everlasting Punishment:

  1. Is the Human Soul Eternal or Immortal?
  2. The Future Judgements
  3. Is Hell punishment forever?
  4. What is being spiritually dead?

Is the Human Soul Eternal or Immortal?

In order to define weather Condemnation is Everlasting Punishment, we first must define ask ourselves the following question.  Do we have an eternal, mortal or immortal soul?

Eternal Soul

We can’t be eternal because eternal has no beginning and no end Genesis 2:7   And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.   Only God the father the son and the Holy Spirit can be eternal since they are the creator all in one with no beginning and no end.  The scripture clearly telling us humanity has a beginning therefore our souls are not eternal.

Mortal Soul

The following scriptures address the immortal nature of our souls. This is one of the main arguments for false religions to deceive many, most of the false doctrine don’t argue the immortality of saved souls but the immortality  of the lost; in other words the lost have a mortal soul which it will mean not eternal condemnation and torment.

The Immortal Soul of the Saved

Here are the scriptures dealing with the saved:

Psalm 23:6 surely your goodness and love will follow me    all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Psalm 49:8-9 for the redemption of their souls is costly, and it shall cease forever— 9  That he should continue to live eternally, And not see the Pit.

No much to comment or to address as we can clearly see the word of god stating the immortality of our souls.

John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18   For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

The Immortal Soul of the Condemn

Ecclesiastes 12:5-7 For man goes to his eternal home, and the mourners go about the streets.6 Remember your Creator before the silver cord is loosed,[a] Or the golden bowl is broken, or the pitcher shattered at the fountain, Or the wheel broken at the well. 7 Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.

Daniel 12:2-3  And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life,
Some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Matthew 18:8-9  If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet,
to be cast into the everlasting fire. 9 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.

Matthew 25:41 Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the
everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:

Matthew 25:45-46 Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, in as much as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ 46 And these will go away into
everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

Ecclesiastes 12:5-7 is speaking to young people and teaching them the ways of life you can read Ecclesiastes 12:1-7 for further reference, in the context of the scripture it is stated that man will go to an eternal home it does not say saved or lost simply states all man meaning a forever home in verse 7 “the spirit will return to God who gave it” we all are going back to God for our faith to be define base on the different judgements. Please read the section below “The Future Judgements”. Daniel speaks of everlasting contempt, but Jesus in the gospel of Matthews makes it very clear, that we have immortal souls and the lost will receive everlasting punishment.

The Future Judgments

Not all men will be judged at the same time and place. There are five future judgments.

1. The Judgment Seat of Christ. The first of these will be the judgment of the believer’s works, called “The Judgment Seat of Christ.” It is this judgment to which we shall give consideration in this chapter. But first, we shall outline the four future judgments that will follow the judgment of the believer’s works.

2. The Judgment of Regathered Israel. In Daniel 12:1 this judgment is called “The Time of Jacob’s Trouble.” It will be the punishment of the Jews for their disobedience to God and their rejection of Jesus Christ. During the Tribulation Period and after the close of the present Age of Grace, Israel will pay for her sins, being afflicted with unprecedented misery and woe.

3. The Judgment of the Living Nations. At the end of the Tribulation Period, after Israel has been judged, the nations of earth will be judged by Christ and His Church. This judgment will not be against individuals but against nations for their treatment of the Jewish people. “For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land” (Joel 3:1-2).

4. The Judgment of Fallen Angels. This is the final judgment against Satan and other fallen angels who will be judged with him. Immediately after the one thousand years of the Kingdom Age, Satan and his hosts will meet their doom. “And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, He hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day” (Jude 6). At that time we shall see the final fulfillment of that great prophecy in Genesis 3:15.

5. The Judgment of the Unbelieving Dead. This is called the Great White Throne Judgment. After the casting of Satan into Hell, the wicked dead will be raised to receive the final sentence of condemnation (Revelation 20:12-15). No believer will be judged at that day as the final judgment is reserved for all who rejected the Lord Jesus Christ on earth.

Is Hell punishment forever?

There is some believes among people today that basically either teaches the nonexistence of Hell or the existence of a place of where people will be reform. We will go to our source of knowledge the inspired word of God. Below are a list of scriptures that clearly tell us what happens to those that have rejected God and his son Jesus. The following scriptures in the gospel of Matthew, Jesus making reference to an everlasting fire and hell fire where the sinners will end up; the book of Jude also takes Sodom & Gomorrah as an example of the punishment of the wicked, the last chapters of the bible describe the faith of the Devil and of those whose names are not in the book of life.

Matthew 25:41Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:

Matthew 25:45-46 Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ 46
And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

Jude 1:7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example,
suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Revelation 20:10 The devil, who deceived them,
was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where[b] the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Revelation 20:14
And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

2 Thessalonians 1:9
these shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power.

2 Peter 3:7 but the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the Day of Judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Matthew 10:28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him
who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell

Romans 2:5-9 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, 6 who “will render to each one according to his deeds”:[a] 7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; 8 but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—
indignation and wrath, 9 tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek;

After reading the above scriptures what is the controversy about?  If you go back and look at Revelation 20:10 it says “The devil, who deceived them; I plead with you today don’t be deceived by the Devil, seek the truth and you will find it thru the inspired word of God not thru man. God has spoken to man thru many periods of history thru his prophets, his son Jesus and the disciples all who claim to come in the name of the lord must meet a simple requirements , their teachings must line up with the inspire word of God.

What is being spiritually dead?

Spiritually death is a term use in the bible since the first book Genesis 2:16- 17  and the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

On the above scripture we challenge you with the following questions. Did Adam or Eve physically die or were condemn the day they ate the forbidden fruit? No, they did not but they did die in their sin and they were not longer free of sin.

Romans 6:23 for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 7:11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it killed me.

Ephesians 2:1 and you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,

Ephesians 2:4-5 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

The four above scriptures in context are speaking of spiritual death not physical death; Romans 6:23 is talking about when we live in sin we receives the wages of it; meaning when you follow Satan you receive his rewards while you are alive and after you physically die. When I was living in sin my life was in turmoil, empty without love, joy and peace.  The other three scriptures are clearly speaking of a spiritual death not a physical death because the subject in reference here are not physically death.

1 Corinthians 15:52-55 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”[g]

55 “O Death, where is your sting?[h] O Hades, where is your victory?”[i] 56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

What is Paul is talking about on the above scripture? Paul is speaking of those of us that are still physically alive when Jesus comebacks, he is referring to the change from our alive physical mortal bodies into our immortal souls; the scripture is only speaking of the saved thru Christ but making no reference to the lost, adding or making assumptions is a very danger game to play with the word of God.

 Conclusion

The Immortality of the human soul is not dependent on whether a person is saved or not, it has been establish by our creator since the time he created us. The Future judgments have been establish thru the bible, since human have immortal souls, The inspire word of God teach us that Hell punishment is forever with no reformation straight out of the words of Jesus Christ other teachings away from the words of the son will make the son a false prophet and a liar. Spiritually dead is a term use to describe the condition of our soul while in sin not the forever destruction of our soul. This was one of the longest studies Jesus1live ever conducted but wow it was so rewarding to know the spirit of the lord moving in our lives and showing us his ways and his truth.
